The Conduit has partnered with Grow Urban Festival (@growurbanfestival_london) & Elysian Roots (@elysianroots / @1001shrooms) to host this engaging talk as part of its lineup of events during the Great Big Green Week from 8th to 16th June. By supporting and promoting this collaborative event, the Grow Urban Festival reinforces its commitment to fostering a greener, more resilient city through community engagement, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and the promotion of urban gardening and sustainable living practices across London.

Kalpana Arias is a technologist, urban greening activist, gardener and the founder of Nowadays On Earth, a social enterprise advocating for contact with nature.Alongside Nowadays On Earth, Kalpana campaigns for urban nature and nature rights through urban greening projects and tech policy reforms, has been researching technological ecologies for over 7 years, delivered a global TED talk, spoken at the United Nations and The Eden Project, and is a trustee for GROW charity. Kalpana is currently an environmental consultant for corporations and governments and works with leading charities, institutions, brands and grassroot change-makers.

George Lamb is the co-founder of Wildfarmed and GROW. After spending the first half of his professional career working in the entertainment industry, George realised he wanted to use his position and influence to make a positive, meaningful and lasting impact on society. In 2018, this led him to found GROW, a life skills education programme that works in schools and communities to promote mental wellbeing, physical health and a more hands-on relationship with Nature. A year later, he co-founded Wildfarmed, a regenerative farming business that grows delicious, nutritious grain in a way that respects the natural systems that all plants and animals (including us) need to survive and thrive.

August Bernstein is head tutor at The Raymond Blanc Gardening School at Le Manoir aux Quait’Saisons Hotel in Oxfordshire. August shares both the impressive kitchen garden at Le Manoir and her own garden with over 100,000 followers on her Instagram platform, @augusts_garden. August also runs her own seed activity pack business, Seed Explorers, for children and families. In her spare time, August is studying for a degree in Environmental studies.

At 23, Daze Aghaji, a London-based climate justice activist, is known for her advocacy on youth engagement, regenerative cultures, and social justice. She’s been deeply involved with Extinction Rebellion and was the youngest candidate in a 2019 European Parliamentary election. Notably, she challenged the UK Government on carbon policy and was recognised by the Royal Society of Arts. Formerly with Earthrise Studio and Extinction Rebellion UK, she now works as an environmental consultant, artist, and trustee, emphasising reconnecting with the land to avert catastrophe.
