Beatrix and Karl von Kempis

Herrenkohlern, Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy

We have a small plot of land in a village called Herrenkohlern in South Tyrol (Italy) very close to Bolzano (capital of South Tyrol). Here we have started a vegetable garden according to the No Dig approach.

The garden is situated at 1180 m. Winter can be rather rough, no sun during some weeks. The season only starts in May. However, once started, growth is impressive and intense, largely thanks to the No Dig approach. We try a range of vegetables and flowers and prefer local varieties which we share with our neighbours. Although the garden is rather small, it delivers delicious vegetable and beautiful flowers.

We are thankful for the advice we got from Charles’ books!
