feb18 pea seed germination, Alderman 17 behind & Tall Sugar 15 front

Four week Alderman seed of 2017 at back, and 2015 seed at front: if growth is slow and patchy, there may be issues of seed age!

I am intrigued by the green algal growth – is this normal ? Does it happen often to you? I ask because when I get this on my modules I start to freak out that something is wrong etc. Modules are soooo wonderful but even after about 6 years of doing it I feel its a struggle to get it right.

Hi Deborah, yes the moss you see on those modules’ surface is simply from high humidity levels, almost non stop. And I do not find it a problem, even though it’s unsightly! After planting, it will disappear into the compost.
So I find it happens only on the very first sowings, sometimes also on the last ones in November.
