Talk to NVS Surrey 14th March Successional Sowing & No Dig Gardening

March 14 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Photo by Jason Ingram for Charles Dowding Diary cover

In the Main Hall of East Horsley Village Hall, Kingston Avenue, East Horsley, Leatherhead, Surrey KT24 6QT for 8pm.  East Horsley Village Hall is lovely, very close to RHS Garden Wisley.

For Wisley students the talk costs £2.

Successional Sowing and No Dig Gardening go hand in hand, because soil preparation is so quick. It results in a plethora of harvests in autumn and winter, even into spring.

Vegetables in winter and the hungry gap are super precious, both from fresh harvests and from stored veg. I offer tips on easier ways to store harvests.

A look at garlic, onions, potato, parsnip, leeks and brassicas as well as salads, broad beans, spring onion and cabbage for the hungry gap.

I cover the value of good soil preparation, without digging, of making and using compost, and of sowing at the best time, especially after midsummer when shortening days mean that you reap rewards from adhering to precise sowing dates.

Entrance is free for NVS members.  Tickets are £1 for members of affiliated societies, £2 for RHS students, and £5 for all other visitors.  Please post an SAE (stamped envelope, marked with your address), together with a cheque for your tickets, made payable to the National Vegetable Society Surrey District Association to NVS Treasurer, 1 Oakfields, West Byfleet, Surrey, KT14 6RZ.
