your views on garlic and shallots

hello charles im currently looking at a online deal. would you give me your views on jolimont garlic and troy shallots as ive never tried these before. thanks

I have grown the Jolimont and it was good but I do not know that shallot variety. Garlic certainly grows best from overwintering in soil, planted from now until early November, but shallots do well from spring planting too and this year I planted twenty bulbs of Longor in early March for a fantastic harvest by July. I think there is less tendency to mildew from spring plantings of onion and shallot.

I too have been looking at shallots & onions. I think you might find that troy is an onion. I am about to order some.

its a hybrid shallot

Hi Ladbrokes, Troy looks like an onion to me. Do watch out for mildew!
